Blues and Royals to miss Kentucky Derby

Blues And Royals, whose impressive victory in the UAE Derby (gr. II) at Nad al Sheba bought him a ticket to Lousville, Ky., will miss the May 7 Kentucky Derby (gr. I), according to the Godolphin Racing Web site.
The report said the Honour and Glory colt is suffering from a low-grade respiratory condition and "it will not now be possible to train him for the 'Run for the Roses'."
"It is very disappointing for everyone concerned because we were all very much looking forward to taking Blues And Royals to Churchill Downs," said Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford. "He seemed to have the right credentials for the race, but it is just one of those things. The horse's welfare has to come first and it just would not be possible for us to get him ready. It would not be in his best interests to send him to Kentucky. All immediate plans for him are on hold."
Godolphin reported that Blues And Royals will be shipped to Belmont Park later this month, along with a small contingent of other horses trained by Saeed bin Suroor.
Godolphin would have been bucking Derby history by trying to win the race with a colt who had only one previous start at age three before trying the classic.
